Most of the structures have been reclaimed from the overgrown jungle and many visitors are awed today by these amazing attractions. Located close to the beaches of Yucatan, most tourists visit Chichen Itza as a day trip from Cancun or other cities in the area, although it would be best to visit the place for several days to get the full experience. There is an impressive number of structures, temples, pyramids and monuments that can be visited here, among the most famous including the Pyramid of Kukulcan or El Castillo, the Interior Temple, Temple of the Jaguars, Temple of the Warriors, the Old Chichen area and many others.
All of these attest to the power and ingenuity of the Maya-Toltec civilization, creating a vivid image of a magnificent world, filled with legends and myths. Around the complex destination of Chichen Itza, a vibrant tourist industry has appeared, with hotels and souvenir shops, tours and experiences. Visiting Chichen Itza is definitely among the great tourist wonders of the world, worth more than just a few hours among these ruins.
